I can still make Cheyenne...

It was the perfect song for today - we did make it to Cheyenne, but, unlike George Strait's song, we did not arrive brokenhearted (although we do miss Utah already)!

We left the Beehive State and soon turned onto I-80 where our GPS told us that we would be on the interstate for the next 1500 kilometres! Crazy! While that is a daunting number, Dave and I saw so many beautiful rock formations in all sorts of colours - red, yellow, brown, among others - and that lessened the sting of the GPS pronouncement. There were lots of visuals to take in: trains aplenty, oil wells pumping, deer (of the likes that are unknown to us), cows dotting the fields, vast valleys, and undulating hills. We also drove past the Abraham Lincoln Memorial Monument, which was pretty neat. Overall, today was an easy drive in that the interstate was not super busy, and the roads were, for the most part, not super steep. But, then again, I wasn't driving!

Have I shared that Dave and I are playing license plate bingo? With the game we are playing, we must complete the entire board (25 states a piece). Dave has three states to go, while I am lagging behind with five. Out of all 50 states, we still have yet to see 10 - and I'm not sure we will ever tag Hawaii! But, we have many miles before us, so you never know!

It was definitely a quieter day in general, but one that really allowed Dave and me to reflect upon our trip thus far. It is hard to pick out a favourite place or day - each one has brought something interesting to the table!

Cheyenne is in rodeo country. It was neat to see advertisements for cowboy boots on the billboards as we approached! The city hosts Cheyenne Frontier Days, which is a ten-day event in July - and is the largest outdoor rodeo in the US! Giddy up!

Not only did we listen to George Strait's song about Cheyenne, we also listened to Garth Brooks' "Beaches of Cheyenne". There are probably more songs about this place, but those were the only two I could think of! Country music sounds better in the country, don't ya think?

Tomorrow will be another long driving day. We won't be in Wyoming for much longer, as we'll be crossing the state line into Nebraska early on in our travels - Cheyenne is only about 40 minutes from the border.

G'night, y'all!

A couple of final pics of Utah...

That red rock is stunning!

Welcome to Wyoming!

Love the horizontal lines of the rock - such a neat visual
